Position in Limit Hold’Em Poker

In Texas Hold’Em poker, both limit and no limit, both at online poker websites and at in person casino poker card rooms, the fact remains that where a poker player is sitting at the poker table is nearly as important as the poker hands that he holds throughout the poker games that he plays in. Poker hands that would be played from a late position may be poker hands tossed into the muck from an early position.

In limit Hold’Em poker, even with the luxury poker players have of fixed/capped betting limits, (which encourages more action and draws on the flop, turn, and river along with fewer poker hands tossed into the muck), poker players will end up playing more poker hands from later positions at the poker table than the early positions.

When a poker player has “DRAWING” poker hands, (poker hands in which he can only make nut poker hands by drawing on the flop, turn and river), compared to “MADE” poker hands, (nut or likely nut poker hands), he needs all of the information possible that he can gather from the other poker players at the poker table based on their acts and this information can only be obtained from the later positions at the poker table. Limit Texas Hold’Em poker players will lose a lot of poker chips by aggressively playing drawing poker hands from early position as they are really making what amounts to blind poker chip bets because they have not gathered the information of what potential and likely poker hands the later poker players at the poker table are holding since they didn’t get to see those later poker players act.

It is a well known fact that in Texas Hold’Em poker even the top notch world-class professional poker players that you see on television will lose significant amounts of poker chips from the early positions at the poker table throughout their entire careers. The best way for a Texas Hold’Em poker player to survive and not be bled dry from poker hands while sitting in early position is to limit his poker chip bets to powerhouse pocket pairs of aces, kings, queens and to toss all other poker hands into the muck, particularly if you have well known/established aggressive limit players sitting in late positions coming after you. Tight is right in limit Texas Hold’Em from early positions. Inexperienced limit Texas Hold’Em poker players that muck marginal poker hands from an early position will quickly advance from the bottom of the ladder.
