Better Poker Odds in Omaha
In Texas Hold’Em poker you will often see online poker players face the dilemma of having a weak poker hand that is often an underdog that has just a 20% chance of winning the poker chip pot against another online poker player. In Omaha poker, due to its 4 card pocket poker hands, better nut hand drawing potential, and better odds that come with them, the worst poker hand that an online poker player will have, still has a 40 percent chance of winning the poker chip pot against another online poker player’s poker hand.
In Omaha poker, an online poker player has considerably more outs on the draw and because of the favorable poker chip odds and implied odds that Omaha poker offers, such an online poker player is far more likely to play drawing poker hands because of the obvious better chances of drawing a made poker hand. To put this another way, playing weak poker hands in Omaha poker does not come with nearly the steep penalties to an online poker player that it does to online poker players playing weak hands in Texas Hold’Em poker.
Omaha poker, as we have discussed in other articles of this online poker series, is a very seductive game because of those 4 card pocket poker hands and larger pots and better poker chip betting odds but an online poker player can easily get himself into trouble if he becomes too loose, even with all of the extra advantages and correct plays that Omaha poker offers to an online poker player. An online poker player that is continuously playing bad poker hands in Omaha poker is still, in the long run, going to lose his poker chips and see his online poker bankroll face erosion.
In online poker, online poker players need to be aware of the fact that playing a bad poker hand is playing a bad poker hand no matter if the online poker player is playing Texas Hold’Em poker or Omaha poker and an online poker player is going to go broke, losing all of his poker chips from his online poker gambling bankroll if he keeps making poker chip bets on bad poker hands.
One of the strengths that a tighter Texas Hold’Em poker player can bring to the Omaha poker table is that self discipline and discriminating style of poker that will prevent loose play on obviously weak poker hands, even with the better drawing and odds potential in Omaha poker.
While online poker players can loosen up in Omaha poker, they should not think that this is an invitation to play like maniacs.
